The Social Dilemma is a 2020 American docudrama film that many of you have encouraged us to watch. We were transfixed as we watched this programme and would recommend it to everyone.

“Only two organizations call their customers ” users”, illegal drugs & software “. This statement is quite a relative explanation about this brilliant perfect eye opener documentary, undoubtedly, it’s Oscar deserving stuff.

The film explores the rise of social media and the damage it has caused to society, focusing on its exploitation of its users for financial gain through surveillance capitalism and date mining, how its design is meant to nurture an addiction, its use in politics, its effect on mental health and its role in spreading conspiracy theories such as Pizzagate and flat-earthers.

If we want to understand the world that we are called to be ‘salt and light’ in and to engage more fully with some of the challenges of social media then The Social Dilemma is well worth watching
